Coding Careers for Women initiative: Diploma in Full-Stack Software Development (E-commerce Applications)

This cohort is aimed specifically at women who are unemployed/not working and who want to gain the skills to start a career in tech. The course is suitable for complete beginners with an interest in developing coding skills. This is a full-time course delivered 100% online over 12-months with a 3-month work placement upon completion. The course leads to a qualification which is a Diploma in Full-Stack Software Development with a specialization in e-Commerce. The career services team advises learners throughout the course to prepare them for their first role in the tech industry.

Qualification

This course is certified by Code Institute and credit-rated by the University of the West of Scotland. It aligns to level 6 on the NQF and level 5 on the EQF and level 6 QQI. The content is industry-validated and university credit-rated. It is the only full-stack software development course to offer a specialization.

Delivery

The course is delivered 100% online with extensive learner support. Learners are guided by a cohort facilitator and have access to live-online tutors 24/5 plus weekends, a personal mentor to advise on projects and a career services team to help learners prepare to use their new skills effectively in the workplace.

Assessment Process

During the course learners complete 5 projects. Each represents a phase of the software development build from front-end development right through to integrating an e-Commerce payment system. These projects form the basis of the assessment and become a showcase of your competencies as a software developer.

Application Process

Applicants will be invited to complete a 5-step coding challenge which introduces the basics of coding with fun, guided challenges and a short interview to enhance their understanding of the course and the support offered to learners. No prior knowledge of coding is required.

This is a 12-month part-time cohort suited to those who need the flexibility to upskill while working.
